Petits Poussins Brooklyn is a French-English bilingual daycare and preschool at 111 Hoyt Street. We welcome children from 6 weeks to 5 years old, from all cultures and backgrounds. Well-being, happiness, academic development, and language acquisition sit at the foundation of our learning model.
Our bilingual programs combine the principles and curriculum of the French Ecole maternelle and crèche with the standards of the American pedagogy. In the rooms, you will hear French and English through the day, with teachers speaking both languages to children. Bilingual teachers and staff promote independence and confidence in infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in a safe and caring environment.
A visitor notices children moving between activities with the same teacher nearby, and hears both languages in the same room. Teachers guide all ages in becoming independent, self-confident, and considerate to each other. Our curriculum focuses on language building in both languages, and we value each child's identity and cultural heritage.
What a day looks like
Mornings start with arrival, a greeting, and a hand-off from parent to teacher. Infants settle into a feed or a nap; toddlers and preschoolers find a table activity or a book. Teachers say each child's name in French and English so the day begins with both languages in the room.
The middle of the day mixes play, small-group learning, meals, and rest. Children work at tables, on the floor, and outdoors when weather allows. Teachers move between groups, talking through what children are doing in two languages.
Afternoon brings quieter play, a snack, and pickup. Teachers tell you what your child did — a new word, a tower that stayed up, a nap. You leave knowing how the day went.
How we work with families
At pickup, a teacher tells you one or two things your child did that day. If you have a question about feeding, sleep, or a new word, ask then or message the director. We keep the information concrete and short.
The first weeks are a settle-in. Your child meets the same teachers each day and learns the rhythm of the room. You can ask how drop-off is going and adjust what you need.

What are the hours?
Infant: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM, 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM.
What ages do you take?
Children from 6 weeks to 5 years old.
Can we visit before deciding?
Yes. A tour lets you see the rooms, meet the teachers, and watch how the day flows. Your child can come along and spend time in the space while you ask questions.
What should my child bring on the first day?
Families usually pack a change of clothes, a comfort item, and anything labelled with your child's name. For infants, bring bottles and diapers. We are a nut-free school, so no food with nuts.
Do you offer part-time or flexible schedules?
Schedules depend on your child's age group and what openings we have at the time. Call us or send an email to ask which options are available for your family right now.
What if there is no place right now?
You can ask us to let you know when a place opens for your child's age. We will keep your name and reach out when we can.
